In Fluent, why white squares are spotted in a contour a certain distance away from the wall (ground)

      Hello All,

I was using Fluent to simulate a wind field. After the simulation is done, I tried to display the velocity contour of a curved surface a certain distance from the wall (ground floor). I used [Surface -> Create -> Transform] to define such surface.

However, there are white spots in the contour plot.

The lines are caused by the surface clipping the edge of a cell rather than being through one entire cell: nothing to worry about and very normal. nThe holes in the surface suggest the transform surface didn't quite work and is missing a few facets. Again, nothing wrong in the model and the results are correct it's just a bit missing from the surface. If you recreate the transform surface fractionally higher in the domain the holes may move or go away: double check you're into at least the 2nd or 3rd cell with the transform. n

Thank you for this! I am seeing the same thing when using a transformed terrain surface for contour plots. I was expecting as much, but this thread helps.n
