Importing ground planes to Q3D extractor

      Hi all,

I have been trying to import a simple half bridge 2-layer PCB to extract the parastic equivalent circuit. I have designed the board in KICAD, so used the Freecad StepUp plugin to create a STEP file containing all PCB traces, pads and fill zones.

I have used a few ground planes in the design on the rear layer of the board, which are causing some issues for importing. The two large planes on the power side of the board are not imported at all, and the signaling ground plane, which is much smaller, is imported as a back-side pad.

I tried making the board a single layer design, but the issue persists.

Is there any way around this issue, or is it  advisable to try and model the ground plane seperatly in the Q3D modeller after importing?

      Thanks

      Hi Thomas,

Thank you for reaching out to the Ansys Learning Forum. Your patience is much appreciated.

Please note that you can model the ground plane in Ansys Q3D after importing. I do not see any problem if it is designed correctly.

      Best regards,
      Praneeth.
