Hello,
I have a human bone geometry which I meshed on mimics and then imported it to ansys. The mesh imported successfully but I also mapped anisotropic material properties of bone on mimics but I cannot import these properties on ansys mechanical. Mimics gave me a .txt file for material properties which I cannot import in ansys. The text file contain data in this format:
I also tried using apdl command in ansys mechanical according to a solution I read online but it didnt work too.
Would someone kindly guide me how to import these material properties in ansys using this .txt file.
Thanks in advance,

Are you sure that the Commands Object did not work? A non-converged solve symbol does not necessarily mean that the commands object did not do what you wanted. What does the solution information show for the cause of the solve not completing?

Hello Mike,Â
Thanks for looking into my problem.
No the solver doesnot even start solving when i hit solve. The following pop-up comes up:
Maybe I am not using the commands option right. Kindly refer me a source from where I can learn to define material properties using command lines.Â
Or if you think there is any other problem than kindly guide me how to resolve it.

Can you show the details of the 'Bone' material model.

I have only given density value there ,nothing else. There is no other property defined there. And for density, there is no tabular data defined there is only one constant value. I thought the CSV file which was imported in the command line would plot all the values on the different elements as you can see in the above image there is different value of Youngs Modulus, Poissons Ratio and Density for different elements of the mesh created. Maybe thats the wrong way but I couldn't find anything online regarding that. Kindly guide me mike, I will be really thankful.

Define elasticity for Bone material and resolve. What happens. Â

It solves but it is not incorporating the anistropic material properties I defined in the Apdl command, it is using the isotropic material properties defined in engineering data and giving results on its basis.

How did you determine that the material properties defined via commands object are not being used? Since you are using a Mechanical Enterprise license this may be better taken up as a technical support case. Â

It worked , I was checking for difference in solution results with and without command lines but there was no difference. But then I created the case files again from scratch and solved them now there is a difference in results among both cases. I also looked into solution's worksheet and found there that 10 Mat IDs are defined for the mesh. So I guess it works. Thanks for your help Mike.
Just to double confirm, could you let me know any apdl command that can be used in post processing to show the material properties of the MatID or Element ID I want to check.

Please see the Mechanical APDL Commands Guide Help entry on *GET. The material attribute ID of an element and the actual values of some material models specific property can be found using *GET; but these are in the pre-processing section of the *GET help page. Â
