SubscriberHello,
Â
One of the researchers in an area I support recently had ANSYS ICEM CFD 19.1 installed and he noticed when trying to import a geometry via File >> Import Geometry >> Legacy that "STEP/IGES" is no longer available like it was in the old version he was using (he thinks it was version 13 or 14). Is it possible to import STEP/IGES files in ICEM CFD 19.1? If so, what is the process?
Â
Thanks,
Ron

Ansys EmployeeHi Ron,
ICEMÂ 19.1 uses a different set of CAD readers from earlier versions, called the 'Workbench Readers'. These are accessed through File > Import Model. This is why the old readers in File > Import Geometry are labelled as 'Legacy'. You should be able to import STEP, IGES and several other formats using the 'Import Model' option.
Regards,
Â

SubscriberI receive the following error when I try to import the model in STL and IGS format.
Â
ERROR:
 pIPartMgr->AttachAssembly() failed!
Â
It also appears when I import the original Solidworks part file.
Â
Any reason for this error. I tried STP format also.
