nIt depends on the material properties.nDuctile materials are evaluated against Equivalent Stress.nBrittle materials are evaluated against Maximum Principal Stress.nThere is a material property called Elongation, sometimes called Elongation at Break. nElongation is the value of Total Strain when the material fractures.nDuctile materials have Elongation greater than 0.05 or 5%nBrittle materials have Elongation less than 0.05 or 5%.n
