SubscriberThe models have been chosen as 'Species Transport' and wanna determine the volume fraction of each species as initial condition to simulate the polluted air, and of course the inlet is just 'fresh air', how to set them, can not find the right way to simulate and it almost kill me :(.

Forum ModeratorI suspect you need to read up on "Patch" in the Initialisation process. Think very carefully about the domain initial conditions too. I assume it's a transient calculation?Â

Subscriberthanks for your reply. Actually I'd like to simulate indoor ventilation, i.e. the initial conditions set the entire model material as a mixture of contaminated air (without mutual reaction) and the inlet as a single fresh air. But after using PATCH I realized that the percentage of each component of the polluted gas did not change. which detail should I need to change?

Forum ModeratorAfter using Patch to set the contaminant and running fresh air the level of contaminant should reduce over time. How long did you run for? Some pictures may help.Â

Subscriberthanks for your reply. And i will show u some details with screenshots
for initial condition, air=0.9, c7h8=0.05, ch3oh=0.05
these are what i've set in inlet, and all 8 inlet have the same value.
after calculating and trying to track the c7h8(=0.05 initial condtion), but the result shows that the maximum value of the volume fraction do not change, i have no idea about this.

Forum ModeratorWhat was the initial condition that you set? Which time value did you post process? Other than for some video functions you'll find Fluent's post processing to be more useful. Also, Student 2023R2 will need reinstalling shortly as your licence may be about to run out. 2024R2 is out/due soon.Â
