Dear Support,

I received an 3D model of the client. When I open this model in Trutops design  there are brown surfaces instead of grey.  How can I repair brown surfaces in Spaceclaim / Trutopsdesign? As long as the surfaces are brown, I am not able to make a flat pattern!

Please check the attached repaired model. The issue was with the corner 1 which was not getting assigned as junction. For Junction 2 it was straightforward to assign as the corner was fine. 

For corner 1 issue, I had to split the body into two then used pull/move operations to create a proper corner to assign a junction. I was able to unfold to create a flat pattern.

If you look at the corners where you need junctions to flatten/unfold the Sheetmetal is not proper and has some issues. I have attached a short video demonstrating the steps to repair this corner and to create a proper bend at that location. 

- What is the meaning of a brown surface?

It is just saying that it has not converted to Sheetmetal from Solid properly.

Hi Devendra,

 

The way you solved it it the hard way!

I discovered that brown surfaces should be solved with Right Mouse Button -> Delete Coupling.

The coupling would probably be caused when the model is saved from another CAD application!
