How to provide DC feed port in HFSS to give DC supply in Ansys Circuit using cosimulation

      Hi

I am replicating one of the published works using HFSS. Please find the attached research paper for your reference.

I need to provide DC supply bias to diodes connected in the planar array structure. For this, I need to create DC feed ports in HFSS. How to create these DC feed ports?

So that by using cosimulation between HFSS and Circuit, I can supply the relevant DC supply to the varactor diodes. Note that in the paper, the spice model of diodes have been used and vias are connected from the bottom to the top metal patch geometry to supply bias voltages to the diodes.

      Please help.

You can do a cosimulation using Ansys HFSS and Circuit to design the required system you want to design.
In HFSS you can assign lumped ports and then connect them to DC bias using the Circuit.
If required, please go through this AIC course on Cosimulation - Cosimulation Using Ansys HFSS - ANSYS Innovation Courses.
      All the very best.

Dear Sir Thank you for your help.
      Please clarify one more doubt.
How can I assign a lumped port to a cylindrical metal via. Since, lumped ports are usually used to connect two conductors. And here, I have only one conductor i.e. metal via. When I tried to assign a lumped port to the same single conductor i.e. outer face of cylindrical via, a warning appears while performing simulations which says "lumped ports are used to connect two conductors".
      Please help.
      Regards

You would definitely need two conductors for assigning port.
I cannot comment on which conductors that you can use because I did not read the attached paper.
As Ansys employees cannot access the attachments across the forum.
But you can get help from other external users across the forum.
      All the very best.
