How to model weld seam in ANSYS workbench for large structures?

Hello, I am working on a project in which I need to replace the weld seams in a large structure by mechanical joints such as clinching. I have to make sure that the stiffness of the mechanically joined structure is similar to that of welded structure.

I have done static structural simulation of the welded structure for a load case using bonded contacts. But I guess, the bonded contacts gives the structure more stiffness than it actually has. Is the method of using bonded contacts correct? If not, how can one model weld seams in ANSYS Mechanical workbench for structural analysis of the structure?

You can try using joints and then define the stiffness in given direction:

Are you looking for a different approach?
