SubscriberHi all,
I would like to simulate the losses of a toroidal core coil at high frequencies. First of all, I have to draw a model like:Â
I am new with Ansys Maxwell and have no idea how to draw the coil around the toroidal core. Would be very happy, if someone could help me.Â

Ansys EmployeeThe easiest way to create a toroidal core coil with Ansys Maxwell is to use the PEmag module which is included for free inside of Maxwell. This will create ring coils (neglecting the spiral pitch of the windings as well as end connections) but will still give very accurate R,L,C results and a Simplorer frequency dependent model or PSpice netlist.Â

To access PEmag from the Maxwell interface select: Tools > PEmag... > Open an Existing Design and navigate to: ..Program FilesAnsysEMAnsysEM19.1Win64UPMExamplesPEmagToroids Search for *.pmg files and select Toroids_1.pmg for instance. Once PEmag is open, you can modify number of turns, core and conductor dimensions. Finally, to create the Maxwell 3D design ready-to-solve, select in PEmag: Modeler > Maxwell 2D/3D link > Eddy Current > Maxwell 3D > OK. The magnetic model will be opened in Maxwell. (For capacitance, choose Electrostatic instead of Eddy Current.) Alternatively, you can automatically solve torodial models using Maxwell directly from inside of PEmag by simply clicking on either the blue 2D or red 3D button on the PEmag toolbar.

SubscriberI want to design a square core induction and i had ansys aim, space claim, design modeler, ansys mechanical but i didnt find any ansys 3d. From where i have to find ansys 3d. -

Ansys EmployeeThe most appropriate ANSYS tool for modeling square core induction is Maxwell 3D (magnetostatic, eddy current or transient solver).
