How to measure re circulation length of a 3D domain

      Hi all,

I hope you are doing well.

My question is how to measure the length of a reticulation region behind a bluff body in 3D.

I am attaching my domain, and I need to calculate the re circulation length behind the bended structure indicated by blue color in the image.

      Waiting for the kind response.

      Regards

Perhaps getting the path length a particle would travel.. Just an idea.

I have calculated the x-distance by considering the change in the direction of velocity vectors (neg to positive ) behind the flap at different locations.

Does it give a correct estimate of the re circulation region?

What criterion are you using to define the flow separation bubble and wake?

      Hi,

I am using the velocity vector direction. In my case because of low Reynolds number I don not have a prominent separation bubble but a certain position behind the flap the change in vector direction from neg to positive can be observed.
