SubscriberHi everyone,
I have a 2D mesh created by ICEMCFD. I would like to add one layer in transverse to make it 3D. I read that one way is to import Fluent mesh to CFX. I did it and it added one layer. Now, I don't know how to save the resultant 3D mesh in CFX and export it back to Fluent. I appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you!Â

Ansys EmployeeYou can use extrude mesh in ICEMCFD to make it 3D and then export it Fluent from ICEMCFD. From CFX, try CGNS export if available.Â
Please go through help manual for more detailsÂ

Ansys EmployeeRead in CFX the Fluent Case / Mesh File write a definition file and import that in Ansys Fluent if you do not want to go via ICEM CFD or other tools. In Ansys CFX you can then tell how to intepret the 2D mesh.

SubscriberHi DrAmine,
Thank you, ICEM can be problematic for complex geometries. I tried yesterday, it extrudes the mesh, but not the blocks.
I only need one layer in the width, and if I can handle it through CFX, it will be great. Should I write the definition file in CFX-pre? Thanks.

SubscriberThank you DAmine. It worked with the definition file of CFX.
