How to decide the mode of deformation to use with UPGEOM?

      Hi,

after making a Eigen Buckling Analysis I want to update the geometry of my model with the deformation model of the fifth mode. How can I do it? I already know that I must use the command UPGEOM, but I don't know **** to select the mode of deformation which I refer to. I use Mechanical APDL. Thanks.

You can directly link the solved Eigenvalue Buckling analysis Solution to the model cell of the Static Structural analysis to have the deformed mesh.
Also, please refer to the following link which may be of help to you.

And how does it work in ANSYS Mechanical APDL?

In the link, I shared you may find a discussion on the use of UPGEOM. But please refer to the following link which might be of much use to you:

21.6. Analysis and Solution Controls (ansys.com)

For having the complete deformation for mode 5:

      /prep7
      upgeom,1,1,5,buckling,rst
      finish
