SubscriberHello guy,
I know for shear stress distribution problems we need to use quad 8 elements to get the best results.
but how do I differentiate between a quad 8 element and a quad 4 element?

SubscriberIn Mechanical, click on Mesh, in the Details window is the Element Order. The default is Program Controlled. If you set it to Linear you get quad 4, and if you set it to Quadratic, you get quad 8.
If you used Program Controlled and already Solved the model, you can look in the Solution Output and the element used is listed in the output.
