SubscriberHi!
I am trying to create velocity profiles along an airfoil surface at different points. From my understanding, the best way to do this is to create lines normal to the airfoil at the desired points and then create a plot of velocity against Y along this line.Â
In previous versions of ANSYS fluent there seems to have been an option to create the line 'normal to' a surface. I am having some trouble finding this option in the current version of ANSYS fluent.Â
would someone be able to direct me to how i can find this option? or is there an alternative way to produce a line normal to a surface?
Many thanks!

Ansys EmployeeYou can create a line by giving coordinates. So if you know exact values, you can use this.Â
You can create a plane and then create a iso-surface of that plane (like cut by another plane) which will be a line.Â

SubscriberHi Keyur,
Thank you for your response!
Is it possible to create a line or a plane if you don't know the coordinates?
I know where along the x axis i want the lines to correspond to, but i am unsure of how to create the lines normal to the airfoil surface so that the point on the airfoil is directly above the desired point on the x axis.
regards,
Aoife

SubscriberHi Keyur,
I have been looking at what you have suggested but I am unable to select create/plane in Fluent. would you know why that might be?
Kind regards,
AoifeÂ

Ansys EmployeeI think for creating lines, you will have to have some input like coordinates or angle.Â
for creating plane, please initialize the solution.Â
