How to calculate input mode power FDTD

I want to calculate the total input power from a fundamental mode source into a waveguide (and later on with additional reflecting structures). Could I simply use "sourcepower" to obtain the power in 3D FDTD single frequency with PML by running the simulation for 200fs?

      Hello Jordi,

For mode power calculation I would suggest to use mode expansion monitors. The mode expansion monitor is used to analyze only guided modes in FDTD. Also you can add ports and check how much power is coupled in your mode in the waveguide. Please refer to these articles :

I hope I helped. Please let me know if you need further help with your issue.

      Kind regards

      Dimitris
