I've been trying to calculate the characteristic impedance of a microstrip in HFSS using terminal lumped ports and its normalizing the value to 50 ohms. How do i calculate the actual value? I tried terminal wave ports but it didnt work either.Â

Hi Luke,
Thank you for reaching out to the Ansys learning forum.Â
Please use "modal waveport" option.
If you are interseted, please go through this free video lesson for detailed information on wave and lumped ports - Modeling Signal Inputs with Ansys HFSS Using Wave Ports and Lumped Ports — Lesson 2 - ANSYS Innovation Courses.
Best regards,
Praneeth.
