how floating licenses can be used across systems in different locations

Could you please guide us on how floating licenses can be used across systems in different locations?

We have a client who currently has two named-user licenses. He uses these across four systems but only needs to run them on a maximum of two systems concurrently. Since he plans to switch to floating licensing, we want to understand the best setup for him.

Will a VPN connection work for accessing the floating license server remotely? The client currently does not use a VPN, so we would also appreciate your advice on recommended options for this scenario.

Hi Syed,

If user is the only user using those licenses he can either install the ansys license manager (with license file) on his local machine and have Ansys applications and server on same machine (no VPN needed) or you can install the license manager on common server and upload the license file to it, here the user will need VPN access if working remotely.
