Hi,

How can I assign parameters to imported geometry?

If the answer is not possible, how can I perform a 3D sketch with DesignModeler or SpaceClaim to design 3D struts?

If the geometry is connected via the CAD Interface then you can pass parameters from CAD: this isn't included in the Student & Teaching software and is an additional (paid) licence feature on the Research & Commercial bundles. 

I'd use DM for parametric models (at present) and there will be examples in the documentation tutorials.
