How can i apply a remote displacement in Explicit Analysis?

      Hello,

I have created a composite material in ACP (Pre) and have connected this to explicit dynamics to create a one cycle vibration test. I can not apply a standard displacement since this applies the boundary condition to the bottom of the geometry (as ACP (Pre) offsets the surface geometry to the bottom). Therefore, I need to apply a remote displacement to offset the boundary condition to the middle of the geometry. However, I am having trouble running this analysis with the remote displacement? Could you advise on how I can run this analysis with displacement/remote displacement to then extract the reaction force data?

I have attached an archive of the file to assist.

Ansys employees can not download files from the community, but, can't you change the offset type so the thickness is added in the correct direction? What error do you get? Search the error in the solve.out on the forum if you don't find it anywhere update here with the exact error that you see in the solve.out file.

      Hello Aniket,

I have created my composite in ACP (Pre) which defaults the offset to the bottom so the plies are created from this point. I do not know how to change this or if that it is possible?

The errors I am getting are:

      - Invalid 'Boundary Condition'

      - Deformable behavior is invalid for remote displacement in Explicit Dynamics (ANSYS) analyses.

      Thanks

      Tolga

Remote displacement can only be used on rigid bodies. You will have to use displacement. You should be able to change the offset type inside ACP by flipping the orientation of the orientation element set.
