How to simulate hologram optical Elements(HOE) film by zemax?

HOE is a kind of diffraction element. So you can either use RCWA or FDTD to get the result, then import to Zemax. Please refer this exmaple:

BTW: many years ago there is a theory to convert HOE as non-spherical optical lens so you can do the ray tracing through special software. Probably you can find some reference papers.

OK, thanks for your suggestions. I'll  refer to the examples recommended and some reference papers.

Hi Chris, good to know Zemax' capability fordirect simulatig HOE. In the last centry HOE was treated as non-spherical, off -axis surface optical element.
