We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

HFSS: How to apply an Unbalanced (-GND, +Sine) voltage as an excitation port?

Hello, I had a question about adding an unbalanced source (excitation) in HFSS. I was wondering how I can make the source have a 0 reference voltage on one end and a sine voltage on the other end? I know that lumped port excitation creates a balanced signal but I need an unbalanced signal. Thank you.

You can define a voltage excitation onto the same sheet that you would have defined a lumped port:

      1) Create 2D planar sheet that touches the two conductors that you wish to apply the voltage to.

      2) Select this sheet and apply the excitation from the menu [HFSS > Excitations > Assign > Voltage...]
