Thank you for your support.
We are using Fluent 2024R1 for the analysis of rectangular pipe flow. Currently, when a rectangular tube is cut to 1/2 or 1/4, the cut surface is set to symmetry to see if it matches the analysis results of the original rectangular tube. Volume meshing is set to HexCore, and each cross-section is shown in the attached image (the mesh is exaggeratedly fine).
I would like to generate a body mesh in which the mesh of the 1/1 circle tube is 1/2 and 1/4 as it is, but in the 1/2 and 1/4 circular tubes, a peel layer is generated on the symmetry plane (cut surface).I would like to generate a mesh that is as similar as possible to the mesh of a 1/1 circle tube, but is there a way to do it (for example, convert the peel layer to a hexahedral mesh)?
Best regards. -

Hello,
I would recommend using MultiZone meshing to create a structured (hex) mesh and avoid having peel layers altogether.

Thank you for your prompt response. I am very grateful that you suggested using the multi-zone mesh function and provided a reference URL. However, I need to register with customer support to access the URL. I have requested my university, which is my contract provider, to register for me, but I have not received a response yet.
Therefore, could you please briefly explain how to generate and edit a multi-zone mesh?
I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your time.

Hello Kota,
From Fluent Meshing 22R2, you can now enable MultiZone meshing in the Watertight goemetry workflow from the Describe the Geometry task. Just click Yes for the question Use MultiZone meshing and the corresponding tasks will be enabled in your workflow.
You will need to identify Source and/or Target zones to define the sweep directions. These zones should be the inlet and/or outlet of the circular tube. You then have the option to choose Map/Pave methods and/or to have a fixed sweep size. I invite you to try them to see their behavior.
I hope this helps!

Dear Mr. Federico,
Thank you for your prompt response. I will proceed with my studying by using multi-zone meshing in Fluent Meshing and following your advice. Thank you again for your detailed explanation. I look forward to our continued collaboration.
