Help with Meshing 2 domains

      Hello,

I am a current university student and I am very new to Ansys and all its products. As part of my project I am trying to create a mesh for a FSI simulation. And so I need to create two separate meshes for the solid and fluid domains from the same solid model and I am unsure how to do this.

I am modelling blood flow in arteries and so I need a fluid domain inside a solid pathway. My initial though was to hollow out my solid model so that it is just a tube and then add in a domain for the fluid but I am having trouble making the fluid domain.

My other thought was that does Ansys have the capability to create two separate meshes on the same model each with different parameters like different inflation layers.

Has anybody got experience with something like this or has any advice, thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Merlin Do you have geometry for the artery that is provided to you? If so, what file format is it, STL, Parasolid, or something else?
If you have a solid body (not facet body) of the artery, open that in SpaceClaim. There is a tool to create the fluid to exactly fill the inside of the artery. Go to the Prepare tab and click on the Volume Extract button. Pick the end faces where the artery was cut from a longer piece of anatomy as the Cap Faces. One of the onscreen buttons is the Seed Face, which is the inside wall of the artery.
Only the fluid layer needs inflation layers. The solid artery wall does not.

Hi The geometry I have is as an STL file, could I still do this process with an stl faceted body?

In order to create a structural mesh, you need to convert the STL file to geometry, you can't mesh an STL facet body.
Here is the Google Search Results with links to this topic on this site.

Hi, I initially had the geometry as an stl file but I then imported it into spaceclaim as a solid body. Is that alright?

No, that is not a good idea. See my reply in your other discussion. /forum/discussion/34201/problems-meshing
