SubscriberHaving the Student Edition and the Commercial Edition concurrently in the same PC. Is this doable? Advised? Best practice?

Forum ModeratorGiven the Student version is to learn on, and not for commercial use why would you have both versions? Definitely not advised, both from a licence terms and practicality point of view: the licence managers don't play well.Â
How did you get on contacting us re the software?Â

SubscriberThanks for your kind assistance. With your reply my suspicions are confirmed. In my job I do a lot of software testing and have several concurrent version. With the Autodesk applications this is not a problem.
I have a unique problem to solve, it is detailed here:
At this point, I am trying to decide whether my project can be processed by the Student Edition or needs more "horsepower".
How did you get on contacting us re the software?
Google is your friend (and mine). The support in ANSYS other forums is a disgrace. This is the only one where I get replies.
Thanks again,

Forum ModeratorIf you're doing a research project you may want to review the Academic licencing: we distinguish between commercial & research. I also need to point out that Student is for learning, not for PhD project work: read the licence agreement you clicked (probably without reading!).Â
Similarly, Student & Commercial/Academic aren't different versions: they're different licences. I have about 6 versions of Fluent and 4 full Ansys installs.Â
As an aside, which Ansys forum are you referring to? You've just got 2 threads on here that I can see.Â

To these:
ANSYS Forum
Plus one in Reddit, Engineering Forums, etc.
I tried several and only here I got a reply (thanks!)
Yes, I am aware that those forums are not owned by your employer.

ps: What I am doing is personal research. I have a 1-person Not-for-Profit entity. I intend to perform Cranial Ballistics simulations in order to determine the details of the fatal shot to president Kennedy on November 22, 1963. This needs a high resolution cranium model but the free student edition that I have is limited in the number of "cells".
