Forum ModeratorDo not drag each cell to the Modal system from Static!
Drag and drop the Modal system from the Analysis system on the existing Static structural system's "Model" cell or "solution" cell directly.

SubscriberDid you figure it out? I just realized I asked basically the same question.

Edited to add: you aren't in Prof Kumar's FEA class at Umass Lowell by any chance? Your problem and set up look exactly like what I'm dealing with

SubscriberOK, I think I figured it out, at least sort of. Take a new workbench project, insert the final analysis first, right click on setup, select transfer data from new, and select the desired previous analysis type. Data, Geometry and model will all be linked, as well as the solution from the previous analysis going into the setup of the following analysis. What I still don't understand, is why I can't do a static analysis, then insert a modal analysis and take the model and solution from the previous static analysis and insert it into the new modal analysis, as would seem more intuitive to me, doing it in sequential order, as opposed to the reverse sequential order ANSYS seems to mandate. Unless I am still missing something?

In your current systems, you will not be able to connect it because you already have a new Model for the Modal.
Insert a new Modal system from workbench as explained in the help link above or you can also use the Analysis button in Home ribbon tab in Mechanical.

Subscriber Thanks, That helped. I'm working out of the Workbench 2019 book, but using 2020 R1. So what I did was I deleted the modal analysis blocks like you said, and then inserted new ones. Then I was able to drag the model from the modal analysis to the static structural. Then I right clicked on the solution in static structural and transferred the data to a new modal block. I was working on tutorial 11.1 in Finite Element Simulations with ANSYS Workbench 19.Â
