FSS linear-to-circular polarization converter postprocessing issue

      Deal all,

I'm simulating a transmision-type Frequency Selective Surface for linear-to-circular polarization conversion similar to the one in the picture below. For the simulation I'm using Floquet Ports and coupled boundary conditions in x and y directions. The structure is tilted 45º in the z axis (as seen in the picture) so that the incident wave is 45º tilted with respect to the y' and x' axes, that is, aligned with the y axis. This way, when I try to check the S-parameters I believe it represents those obtained for the y and x axes. However, I would like to observe the S-parameters in the y' and x' axes. How could I do it?

Thanks for your reply in advance.

      Hi,

You can set up the required phase delay without rotating the model in Ansys HFFS. Since you are using coupled boundaries you can set the required polarization. You need to enter the required polarization by setting 45 degrees next to the phi scan angle in the phase delay dialogue box. For detailed information, please read through - "Assigning Coupled Lattice Pair Boundaries" section in the HFSS Help pdf document. Alternatively, you can go through this link - Ansys Electronics 2022 R2 - Assigning Boundaries in HFSS in the online Help document.

You can also go through this free Ansys Innovation video course on using Floquet port - Ansys HFSS Floquet Port - ANSYS Innovation Courses which covers the same details.

      Best regards,
      Praneeth.

      Hi Praneeth,

Thanks a lot for your reply,

I thought about it. However, doing it that way (Keeping the structure aligened with the y axis and setting phi scan angle to 45º), when observing S-parameters, aren't they refered to the 45º shifted modes (y' and x' axes)? Or are they still refered to the xy axes?

      Best regards,

      Angel.

      Hi Angel,

They are referred to the 45 degress shifted modes only.

      Best regards,
      Praneeth.
