SubscriberHi, I wonder if it is possible to simulate the response that a fluid (like water) enclosed in an elastic solid would have to an external pressure applied on the external surface of the solid. Is this possible? And if it is possible, how should I proceed?
Thanks.

Forum ModeratorIt is, but what would it prove?Â

SubscriberI am trying to see if the fluid inside can reduce the pressure applied to the fluid-solid system and how does the viscosity of the fluid affect this reduction. How could I simulate this? With a two-way FSI analysis?
Thanks.

Forum ModeratorAre you expecting the fluid to flow? There are fluid elements in Mechanical so you may be able to model the whole lot there. Otherwise, there is an intrinsic FSI function in Fluent that may be sufficient. It's dependent on the level of deformation.Â

SubscriberThanks rob, my intention is that there is no flow, but that way is it possible to take into account the fluid viscosity? Sorry I'm new in Ansys and I don't how can I simulate this fluid-solid system on mechanical.

Forum ModeratorIf you need to account for viscosity you may want FSI, click on Help in Fluent and you'll find the documentation, tutorials and videos. Also review the fluid elements in Mechanical - I have no idea how that works though.Â
