We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

Fluent parametric sweep returns same values

      Hi,

I've been teaching ANSYS for about the past 5 years and each time multiple students run into a bug where parametric sweeps of Fluent give the same results for each design point. It's the same thing from this post:
      https://innovationspace.ansys.com/forum/forums/topic/getting-same-output-values-for-different-values-of-parameters-in-workbench/

And this forum from a decade ago:

      https://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/fluent/125869-getting-same-output-values-different-values-parameters-workbench.html

There are various workarounds in terms of setting each solution to current and going into the solution manually to force an update, but no solution. I wanted to check in to see if there were any true fixes in this the year 2024...

      Best,

The main fix is to change the check interval to about 5 so prevent convergence in the first iteration(s). Fluent has a built in parametric function now, but the process is also moving over to Optslang and attached tools to add in Digital Twin and similar functionality.

Hi Rob, I wanted to follow up on where I could find the check interval as I feel like I'm quite close to resolving this issue. Thanks!

Would this be the Reporting or Profile Update Intervals in Fluent? The only Check Interval I can find in Workbench is in Mechanical options. I'd prefer to run everything through Workbench since we use multiple solvers.

Reporting Interval, and it's set in the Fluent Solve panel.

Fair enough re multiple solvers. I cover Fluent and Rocky at a much lower level of expertise. Neither use Workbench for coupling or "normal" use.

Thanks Rob. I haven't even heard of Rocky... So many products!

And so many applications to model with them!
