SubscriberIam using a periodic boundary condition(rotational) in an quarter symmetric geometry (3d) fluid flow in nozzle.Â
After giving periodic boundary condition and giving initilization, an error occured statingÂ
"mpi application rank 0 exited before mpi_finalize() with status 2"
and fluent abruptly closed.
But the case is running in series without any problem.
I have attached the image.
Please give me some idea about this.

Ansys EmployeeHello, are you sure this is cause by the Periodic BC?Â
We would need more details about your setup to help you troubleshooting.

SubscriberYes, because if it's given symmetry or walls as bc for that face, then the solvers runs in parallel.Â
Also when applying pbc, its running in series, when opened in parallel, the fluent crashes when given initilization or saved the project after giving pbc .

Ansys EmployeeHello,Â
there are no limitations for using parallel solver with Periodic BC so this might be case specific for how you set up your periodic BC.
You can find information on periodic BC in the User guide: 7.4.18 Periodic Boundary Conditions (ansys.com)
You can also find an example here: Chapter 12: Modeling Blade Row Interaction using Steady-State and Transient Simulations (ansys.com) -

SubscriberCan you also tell that this is with the partition of processes?
If so, can you tell me how to control the partitions..

SubscriberThe problem is solved.. It was because of auto-parition of processes. The Outflow zone was paritioned inbetween. I managed to make the outflow zone fully covered in one parition. Now its running in parallel succesfully. Thanks for the support.
