Fluent Meshing Grayscreening

Hey, when I'm running fluent through workbench I'm having an issue with the meshing. Geometry is fine, I can make my shape in SpaceClaim (can't open Discovery or DesignModeler without it crashing though) and it gets sent to meshing. When I try to open meshing all I get is a gray screen and workbench says it's still trying to open meshing. I've also tried this on a virtual computer through my school and somehow it works perfectly, but I need this to work on my local computer for file reasons. Last year some other people had this same issue and it never got resolved (/forum/forums/topic/gray-screen-when-meshing-a-geometry-in-fluent/). If anyone can help that'd be great, I've already uninstalled and redownloaded Ansys.

      Hi Julian,

Do you have the student version of Ansys application installed?

I do, I downloaded it directly from Download Ansys Student | Workbench-based Simulation Tools

      Hi Julian,

      1. Clear the cache of the Fluent application by renaming the Ansys folder to Ansys.old (type in windows search bar %appdata% or C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Ansys), rename .cfx and fluent.conf folder(C:/Users/username) and relaunch the application.
      2. Can you please check if any antivirus/ security software is blocking the Ansys application?
      3. Can you please check the application logs?

Go to START > Event Viewer > Expand the Windows Logs and choose Application, check if there is any error over there.

      Hi,

I tried clearing the cache, but I couldn't find the .cfx folder to rename. I did rename the other two folders and relaunched but it didn't work.

I don't believe I have any antivirus that's blocking Ansys, but is there a way for me to check?

I did check the application logs and I couldn't find any errors that were being thrown by Ansys.

Can you try to update the graphics and check?

Updated my drivers and still the same problem. I have a Radeon AMD RX 580, 4GB, does that affect this in any way?

      Hi Julian,

After importing a project for meshing, the options are grayed out? Also, send the screenshot of your fluent application once you import any project to it.

Attached are the images. I load Fluent into WorkBench as a 2D geometry. Then I made a surface to pass to meshing which it says it did. Then I tried to open meshing and it won't load, but WorkBench says the status is "Starting Meshing". The solver works if I directly import a mesh, but I can't even view the mesh in meshing. Same thing for projects.

Hi are there any updates to this?
