SubscriberMy Fluent is not responding (simply put). Everytime i try to open it separately or through the ansys workbench, it doesnt load at all. I have tried to reinstall ansys 3 times already, after wiping all the folders . Everything else works fine, except for Fluent.
I am currently resorting to CFX which works quite well.
My Asus laptop has a 16GB ram with an i7 processor, and a GTX950M graphics card updated with the latest drivers. I dont know what other fixes to try out. Please help me out.
The screenshot was taken after almost an hour of waiting after which i get the messge "Fluent Application Failed to start"
Thanks in advance.

Ansys EmployeeIt usually doesn't hang on this launcher page.
What if you bypass it.
Open CMD Prompt then issue the following command (change your version and installation path accordingly)
"C:Program FilesANSYS IncANSYS Studentv191fluentntbinwin64fluent.exe" ^-r19.1.0 3d -meshing
Does this work ?
If not, try non-gui mode
"C:Program FilesANSYS IncANSYS Studentv191fluentntbinwin64fluent.exe" ^-r19.1.0 3d -g -meshing
It may also be worth trying to turn off any Anti-virus software and Firewall on the machine.
Thank you,
Win

SubscriberThanks for the reply.
I tried using the cmd promt for running fluent and it worked.
So why isnt it working through the launcher? What settings can i use in the launcher or apart from that, to run fluent through the Ansys workbench?
Firewall and Antivirus were off for all the trials.

SubscriberI reinstalled again. Found no errors. Still only works via the command prompt option. Is there a way to bypass the launcher if we go through workbench?

Ansys EmployeeHi karthik.ramanadhan ,
Please post the screenshots of the following:
- Open CMD Prompt, then type 'set' (without quote)
- Open CMD Prompt, then type 'dxdiag'(without quote) , post screenshots of the first page and the tab that says 'Display'
- Open Windows File Explorer and browse to the drive where ANSYS is installed on (e.g., if it's installed under C:Program FilesANSYS IncANSYS Student , just browse to C:) , then make sure you can see all hidden files, and take the screenshot of the content of this drive.
Thank you,
Win

SubscriberHi
Sorry for the late reply. Appreciate the assists so far.
-CMD 'set' text file here
-Dxdiag screens
-Installation Folders Screens
-----C drive with "Show hidden"
----Ansys Student folder
As per what you had suggested earlier, Ansys still works only with cmd prompt for me. The launcher constantly hangs.

Ansys EmployeeThe link to download the text file for 'set' output is blocked from our network. Could you post the content here ?
For the screenshot of the C drive, can you go up one level from C:Program Files to show the content of C:
Thank you,
Win

Ansys EmployeeThanks for the info.
Can you try rearranging the value order of your Path environment variable ?
The current order is something like this
C:Program Files(x86)Common FilesOracleJavajavapath;C:Program Files (x86)InteliCLS Client;C:Program FilesInteliCLS Client;C:Windowssystem32;C:Windows;C:Windowssystem32Wbem;C:Windowssystem32WindowsPowerShellv1.0;..........
I would like to try moving those that start with C:Windows to be at the front, so it would be something like this
C:Windowssystem32;C:Windows;C:Windowssystem32Wbem;C:Windowssystem32WindowsPowerShellv1.0;C:Program Files(x86)Common FilesOracleJavajavapath;C:Program Files (x86)InteliCLS Client;C:Program FilesInteliCLS Client;..........
But before making change to the value of the environment variable, please make sure you backup the current value into some text editor application like notepad, words, etc.
Thank you,
Win

Ansys EmployeeThere are actually other things to try/check as well when you encounter issue like this.
Is this happening with stand-alone Fluent or Workbench-Fluent ?
If your stand-alone Fluent is fine, try the following command in CMD Prompt. Make sure all ANSYS applications are closed first.
move "%appdata%ansys" "%appdata%ansys.old"
If your stand-alone Fluent doesn't work either, let us know the issue. Maybe, screenshot of the error message if exist.
Thanks,
Win
