Fluent crashing

      Hello,

      I have an intel I7-12700H with 14 cores ( 6 performance ) and 16 GB of RAM.

I'm trying to run a single phase steady state realizable k-e model with 6M cells, however,  it keeps crashing and just once it started running but it is using 99% of Ram and only a little bit of the CPU. It took 5 hours to get to 6 iterations and then crashed again.

Is this normal or is there anything I can do? Upgrade the RAM to 32 gb?

Please help! Thank you very much!

6M cells will be very tight on 16GB RAM. You might get away with single precision but possibly not. The slowdown indicates you're paging to disc, the noise used to be a good indicator of this but with SSDs this is nolonger a check. If you can access a bigger machine you can check memory requirements before upgrading.

Thank you so much for your response! I really appreciate it.

I upgraded the RAM on my device this morning to one stick of 32 GB. it crashed and gave me a blue screen on the first run when I chose 5000 iterations, I tried a second time with 3000 iterations (not sure if makes any difference) and so far it is running and got to 23 iterations within 2 hours. I hope it keeps working.

The problem is this is my most basic geometry. I was hoping to expand the geometry and go into multiphase analysis. Will I be having a problem with this device, and if so, any recommendations on devices or upgrades please?

Thank you very much for your time and help!

23 iterations in 2 hours isn't good, I'd be looking for 2-3 per minute as a minimum. Check the RAM usage. How many cores are you running on?

Iteration count won't make a difference, and blue screens tend to be OS related.

I’m running 4 cores,, the RAM usage is at 100%. Its been almost 4 hours and it is on iteration 50

With 6M cells you want to be running on at least 12 cores.

I have intel i7-12700H with 14 cores, however, only 6 of them are performance cores and 8 are E-cores. Can I still run 12 cores or do I have to run up to the perfomance cores?

Thank you again I really appreciate your time and help!

Ah, the joys of modern cpu's.....  You need performance cores as the other ones will struggle.

That is very unfortunate. Thank you so much for all your time and responses!
