SubscriberHi Support,
If the client machine crashes while holding the floating license how do we force the license to return to the server.
Our customer is using Ansys Discovery Floating license.
The client has restarted the machine and the server is saying no licenses available because it thinks the client has the license from when it crashed.
I know this can be an issue with flex licensing.
Previously with SpaceClaim Engineer and FlexLM there were steps to take but I can't find anything in the Ansys licensing documentation to do this.

The other solution is to restart the Ansys License Manager on the license server machine. That will release the license.

SubscriberHi Matt Madore
Thanks for we have restarted the license on the server on the server and it seemed to do the trick.
Another question I have is regarding ports. Once the server has been restarted a port that we have allowed has changed and now needs to be opened which we have done.
Is there a way of making this static. With other Flex licensing you are able to add "port = _____" somewhere in the license file to make this always use said port.

Forum ModeratorYou can set ansyslmd to a static port by adding it in the license file on the VENDOR line.
For example:
VENDOR ansyslmd PORT=1056
