SubscriberI was able to get Ansys License manger installed and activate our entitlements. Ansys Licensing Interconnect version 2023.2.0 for lin64 is running successfully and reads valid licenses from the “.lic” file. Both “ANSYS License Manager” and “ANSYS Enterprise License Manager” have been installed since our Linux system does not have a GUI.
The issue we’re facing is “Could not start FLEXlm server. Please check the FLEXlm log file. Exiting.” When looking at the 2023R2 License Management Guide I am unable to find the FLEXlm log files as specified in the 2023R2 License Management Guide.
Question: Is FLEXlm (FlexNet) installed as part of “ANSYS License Manager” or “ANSYS Enterprise License Manager”?
If so, how would I debug, if not installed is there documentation on how to install?---
Here are some lines from ansysli_server.log:

Ansys EmployeeYou do not need to install BOTH Ansys License Manager and Enterprise License Manager.
They both include the daemon for Flexnet (lmgrd)
The Enterprise License Manager is specialized and if installed second could have changed something.
Check the ansyslmd.ini file under /ansys_inc/shared_files/licensingit should not contain any specialized settings.
I would recommend uninstalling ALL and start from scratch.
Then, just installing The Ansys License Manager,Also, check the installatyion guides for prerequisites and verify that ALL require linux library packages are installed.

Ansys EmployeeYou can also look athe the /ansys_inc/shared_files/licensing/license.log file
This is the Flexnet debug log file. There are installation guides on the Ansys Customer Portal:

SubscriberThanks for the help George -
I think the issue is further back, it looks like the Flexnet daemon isn't being installed when the Ansys License Manager installer is running.
I restarted the entire process and re-installed Ansys License Manager. The installer error log had the following error:
Error was encountered during the licensing configuration:
'/ansys_inc/shared_files/licensing/tools/bin/runlmconfig' terminated after 1 attempts with the following error(s):
Unknown error
Exit Code: 127
/ansys_inc/shared_files/licensing/tools/bin/linx64/ansyslm_config: error while loading shared libraries: libSM.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Any ideas on why the file cannot be opened? I confimed that the file exists and that I have permissions - running everything with sudo. -

Ansys EmployeeI would still verify that ALL required linux libraries are installed.
