SubscriberI am facing problem in downloading ANSYS AIM STUDENT and ANSYS STUDENT.
I have the ANSYS electronics desktop 2019 installed on a server machine. After installing it on my personal computer I am unable to start the electronics desktop application. I keep getting: License server machine is down or not responding (FLEXlm Error -96).Does anyone have any suggestions to solve this problem?
Thank you

Ansys EmployeeHello Arcire.
Click on Diagnose and then choose redirect Info.
Check the redirect.lic file listed to verify that it is pointing to the correct server.
Verifty that the License Server is running the 2019R1 version of the ANSYS License Manager.
Try setting the following system Environment variable:
Variable:FLEXLM_TIMEOUT
Variable Value: 20000000
Regards,
Geo

Ansys EmployeeHiÂ
Flex -96 would indicate you are not able to communicate with the license server.
Â
Your ANSYS LMC is showing the Flex portion is not started. Are you running Flexera separate or is it running on a different server?
Â
A potential issue in this case, I would expect the client reference is not accurate.
By default in Windows, this is c:Program FilesAnsysEMadminredirect.lic and should have the following contents (correct hostname and port if needed):
SERVER DESKTOP-QKDH2JK ANY 1055
USE_SERVER
Please let me know if that resolves.
thanks
Randy

Ansys EmployeeHi,
Â
Flex -15 is still a communication related message.
In your Client ANSLIC_ADMIN Utility where you showed the Flex increments status.
Scroll to the very top and you should see the ANSYS FLEXlm license path=xxxx@servername
- Is that the same servername and port you entered into the redirect.lic?
Â
Is the license server and client the same machine?
-Â are all the screenshots above from the same machine?
When showing the security message box, it is usually best to expand it and show all the errors.
thanks
Randy

SubscriberHey
The license server and the client are not from the same machine!
The license server is from my university.
But all the screenshots above are from the same computer(mine).
Here are the pictures from the top of Anslic_ADMIN Utility and the message box:
Thank you again for helping me!... it means a lot .

Ansys EmployeeIn this case, your redirect.lic should look like (the server name is pixelated, please double check my spelling)
SERVER aarl.etti.tuiasi.ro ANY 1055
USE_SERVERÂ
Â
Does that resolve the issue or present a different error?
thanks
Randy

Ansys EmployeeHi,
Â
This error makes much more sense.
The "flex -18" errors indicate these features are not available on your license server -- but it shows we are communicating with the license server.
The "flex -88" is as the error indicates.
- Either the date/time on the server/client machines are significantly different
- or the license server has had it's time modified to an earlier date/time. However, with this, I would expect all increment checkouts would suffer from the same error.
Are others experiencing the Flex -88 error? If not, confirm your date/time is accurate.
Â
thanks
Randy
