Fixed Boundary condition set up for SPH particles in Workbench LS-DYNA

      Hi, 

      Could anyone please help, i am trying to convert my simulation from FEM to SPH in ANSYS WB LS-DYNA improve my metal cutting force reaction. 

      I need to fix the two ends of my nail which i am cutting, I try to introduce a rigid wall but this did not produce any result as the solver did not work. 

      from research i observed i could also apply SPC (Single Point Constraints) or define a nodal boundary condition that restricts movement in all directions.

      I am not able to do this, do any one has a training in ALH that this process was clearly explained or if you could share the process to constraint the my stud in both ends in SPH.

      We can do that with a Fixed Support that is scoped to a named selection that consists of nodes/sph nodes so using a nodal selection on these areas. Still I would not suggest using SPH for this.

      I would suggest to use SPG instead for metal cutting analysis – not a lot of material on that (at least in Workbench on that).

          As Erik said, you can first select the geometry face, press "N" or right click --> generate named selection.   Under named selection, right click and general nodal selection.    workbench has the ability to create nodal selections based on any topology or body you placed under named selection.

      with this nodal named selection, you can either try inserting a "fixed support" and try to place the nodal named selection in there or generate a custom ls-dyna key card and write out your own boundary_SPC cards (fixed support generates a boundary_SPC that constrains everything whereas a custom boundary_SPC cards allow you to free some DOF should you need to).
