Filling SN curve data for materials

Hello! I have the SN curve data for Al from MIL-HDBK. The plot lists the max stress over number of loading cycles for different R ratios. When entering the SN curve data points for each stress ratio into Ansys, do I need to do the math to convert the max stress to alternating stress based off the R ratio or can the software calculate alternating stress component based off the supplied R-ratio and max stress?

      Thanks!

      Hello Prasanth,

When adding a new material and importing the data to create the S-N curve the only stress available is the alternaitng stress. So you should tranform the max strsses to alternating stresses before importing them in the Engineering data tab.

      Hope that helps!

      Zoi
