SubscriberHello! I have the SN curve data for Al from MIL-HDBK. The plot lists the max stress over number of loading cycles for different R ratios. When entering the SN curve data points for each stress ratio into Ansys, do I need to do the math to convert the max stress to alternating stress based off the R ratio or can the software calculate alternating stress component based off the supplied R-ratio and max stress?

Thanks!

Ansys EmployeeHello Prasanth,
When adding a new material and importing the data to create the S-N curve the only stress available is the alternaitng stress. So you should tranform the max strsses to alternating stresses before importing them in the Engineering data tab.
Hope that helps!
