Fan Pressure Drop How to Mesh

       Dear all,


       


      I am a beginner Fluent User,


      I designed a fan and created a geometry like shown in the picture. My aim is to calculate the pressure drop for this fan at a specific RPM value. I also prepared the named selections and so on, so I am currently at Meshing face and I totally have no idea on how to proceed here. May I have your suggestions for the meshing process please? This is related with my thesis study and your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot in advance for your guidance. If you need more info just please let me know.

      Hello,


      You might want to select the face you are trying to mesh and specify a 'face sizing' to mesh the face with a specific resolution. Please use the following video.

      Thanks a lot for your feedback. Actually I've generated the mesh and when I check the quality I receive below message. How can I improve it?


      Mesh Quality:


       


      Minimum Orthogonal Quality = 4.65369e-02 cell 1636 on zone 4 (ID: 1637 on partition: 0) at location (-2.58751e-02 -7.29487e-03 -1.13339e-02)


      (To improve Orthogonal quality , use "Inverse Orthogonal Quality" in Fluent Meshing,


      where Inverse Orthogonal Quality = 1 - Orthogonal Quality)


       


      Maximum Aspect Ratio = 5.10026e+01 cell 4348 on zone 4 (ID: 4349 on partition: 0) at location (-1.98810e-02 1.44503e-02 -6.87879e-03)

      please see following video to identify bad elements in ansys meshing. i assume you have created mesh in ansys meshing. 


      once you identify the locations, you will need to use appropriate sizing at that location to avoid bad elements. 


      on another note, you min ortho quality is 0.04 which is not so bad. so you may want to see how it goes with this mesh itself.

      Thanks a lot for your support! I'm getting a message as folllows; any idea why it occurs and how I can avoid it?


       


      The selective body meshing is not being recorded, so the meshing may not be persistent on an update.  If you want to record the order of the body meshing, please use the Mesh Worksheet to track the meshing steps.  Please see Selective Meshing documentation for more details.

      you can generate mesh on entire model in one go 


      or


      you can select body - right click - generate mesh on selected body. this is body by body meshing. 


      the worksheet can record your sequence when you use body by body meshing. for that go to worksheet in meshing and click on start recording. then it will record it. 


      if you dont want to record it, you can ignore the message.
