SubscriberHello everyone,
I have generated a tetrahedral volumetric mesh of a bounding box (nearly a cuboid). I wonder how to extract the coordinate of the nodes located at the boundary of the bounding box. I want to generate the displacement of these nodes (by combination with other displacement vector fields) and use them as constraint of subsequent fem boundary condition.
Your help is greatly appreciated!

Ansys Employeein fluent you can export asci file which will have nodes and coordinates.Â

SubscriberThanks. But how can I identify which nodes are located on the boundary of the volumetric mesh? Can I extract coordinate of these nodes? Can I accomplish this using Ansys APDL? Hope for your advice!

SubscriberThank you. I have seen this discussion before. But what I need is not the nodal coordinates after deformation. In fact, I want to extract coordinates of the nodes which are located on the boundary of my volumetric mesh (the volumetric mesh was generated from stl file which is a surface mesh originally). After extracting the coordinates of boundary nodes, I can then get the displacement of these nodes (combined with other results) and further use them as boundary condition of fem (In other words, I want to load the displacement of boundary nodes). Also I want to know how to apply displacement of many certain nodes in Ansys (maybe using apdl?). I guess my problem is quite infrequent because I have been looking through many forums but still can't find the proper way to solve it. Your help is greatly appreciated!

SubscriberThank you. But could you please tell more details? In fact, I have a stl file which is a surface mesh segmented from human anatomy and then I generate volumetric mesh in Ansys ICEM. What I need to do is extracting the coordinates of boundary nodes, then I can get the displacement of these nodes (combined with other results) and further use them as boundary condition of fem (In other words, I want to load the displacement of boundary nodes). What do you mean by selecting particular boundary zone? Combined with surface mesh representing the object? I have no idea exactly. Your advice is highly appreciated!

Subscriberdid you find a solution to this problem? I'm doing my thesis and I'm looking for the solution as well! nI need to parametrized the boundary box data of the deformed body to be able to estimated the volume as an outputnMany thanks,nLaran
