I want to mesh a domain that contains two parts (Mold and thin slab). The shapes of both parts are curved (circular arcs at the top) and they gradually become flat (rectangle) at the bottom. I attached images of Mold and thin slab (yellow-colored part).

SpaceClaim has a Volume Extract button on the Prepare tab. This creates the solid that fills a mould. You would then use the Share button on the Prepare tab to create Shared Topology.

I tried creating thin slab using fill option in DesignModeler. It is working. No extra parts are forming.
I have two more doubts.
Actually, this domain (assembly of Mold and Thin slab) is created in Solidworks and imported into DesignModeler by changing the assembly file format to ".step" file format. All required dimensions are there and the assembly file has no errors. It did not show any error after importing into DesignModeler. But, these extra parts are coming while the geometry transfer to meshing.
My questions are
If we have this kind of geometry where there is contact between two curved surfaces, is it always advisable or prefer to create those parts in DesingModeler or SpaceClaim ?
Is there any setting we can do in DesingModeler or SpaceClaim (such as decreasing tolerances) so that these kinds of contact problems will be adjusted automatically ?

July 27, 2021 at 9:56 ampeteroznewmanSubscriberIf the geometry was precisely created in Solidworks, using the surface of one part to make the other part, the best option is to export a Parasolid from Solidworks and read the Parasolid into DesignModeler. The reason for this is that Solidworks uses the Parasolid kernel and so does DesignModeler. That means there is no translation into a new scheme such as STEP, there is merely a transfer of data.
If Shared Topology is desired in order to mesh across a common surface shared by two bodies, you must use DesignModeler or SpaceClaim to achieve this effect.
If the geometry was not created precisely, there are repair tools in SpaceClaim and DesignModeler to try to repair geometry that has problems, but the best approach is to create precise geometry.
