SubscriberHello,
I currently have a file completely designed in Icepak. Now, I am looking at doing stress analysis for which I need to import the temperatures obtained in Icepak to ANSYS Mechanical. However, to transfer the model to ANSYS Mechanical, I understand I need to have a CAD file of the model. I am trying to export the Icepak model as a STEP file using the toolbar. However, this seems to be taking a really long time and the process still is not complete. Will I need to redesign the whole model in SolidWorks or is there any other way around this?
Thanks

Forum ModeratorYou shouldn't need to. Check for disc space etc and also that you're not running out of RAM during the process. Depending on model complexity "a really long time" might not be unreasonable: has it been more than an hour or so?

SubscriberHi satyap,
What if I have created my model entirely in Icepak? Or if for example, I have created a STEP file for the coldplate and add the power sources in Icepak. Could I convert these to STEP files within Icepak or will I necessarily need to have the whole file made in a software like SoildWorks?
I did try the 'Export as STEP file' option in Icepak but that did not give good results.

Subscriber.I am having the same issue. I remeber I was able to export cad model from icepak 18 to step, or stl or such. But in version 19 that option is not there. Any way to export cad model from icepak (please note: the entire model was prepared in stand alone icepak)? Thanks.
