SubscriberHi,
When I run simulation in cluster/local PC, usually i export data file as ".dat" file. Recently, 2020.1 fluent version has been installed in our university cluster. I use 2018 or 2019r3 fluent version for preparing case file and use auto save option to save data after each 100 time steps. when I am running my simulation in cluster, the data file saving as ".h5" file. When I am trying to read the .h5 file in the CFD post, it is not supporting. As I already have data in ".dat" file format, I am looking for data in the same format instead of ".h5" type.
How can I get the data in ".dat" type.? Do I need to add any command for that in my journal file?

Forum ModeratorYou can still save Fluent files in the older format, we just changed the default at 2020 as it's faster along with some other benefits. The default is in Fluent Preferences, it's "cff" for H5 format, switch that to Legacy.

SubscriberThanks for your reply. But my query is: My case file is prepared in 2018/2019r3 version. When I will run simulation in HPC cluster (where 2020 version installed) through script (bash) file, how can I make sure that the data file will be saved in '.dat' file?
I have tried by dropping down in CFD-Post 2019r3, it is showing that .h5 file is not supported.

Forum Moderatorcdat is CFD Post format and is unchanged from about R17, if you're referring to .dat.h5 you can change the default in the Fluent Preferences. However, I think CFD Post can read these in 2021R1: double check as I don't use CFD Post. n
