Hello,
I am currently comparing Ansys with StarCCM+ which is an equivalent of Fluent and I got interesting results in Discovery.
When I ran the simulation, my results were closer to StarCCM+ in Explore Mode rather than in Refine Mode.
I am sure of the result in StarCCM+ and about Refine Mode isn't it suppose to be more accurate than Explore Mode. Can someone explain to me why ?
Thank you in advanceÂ

Hi Thomas,Â
Explore Mode discrtizes the geometry in voxels and utilizes real-time GPU solvers, which are excellent for quick, exploratory simulations during the early stages of design. This mode allows for rapid iteration and innovation, helping you to explore ideas with unprecedented speed.
Refine Mode, on the other hand uses Ansys’ flagship solver technology for higher fidelity results. It offers more control over aspects such as contacts and meshing. You can apply local mesh refinement in refine mode and make necessary refinements.ÂÂIf you select LiveGX solver in Refine Mode, it uses traditional mesh but uses GPU solvers which provide much faster results.ÂTry increasing the simulation fidelity, apply local refinement in refine mode and resolve. Please share the screenshot of simulation setup for better understanding.ÂRegardsAtharv -

As I said I have some results from StarCCM+ . This is in french but we have absolute pressure in the inlet 1 and outlet 1 and the pressure loss. When I run my simulation with a similar mesh in Discovery I have these results in Refine Mode.
In Explore Mode(maximum fidelity) the results are much closer to StarCCM+Â (Pressure loss, Max speed, Max temp., Mean total pressure Inlet (1) and Outlet (2)).
The difference in percent of the pressure loss in kinda big even when I apply local refinement in the criticals areas. The question is why because Refine Mode should be more accurate. If possible can you explain how the explore mode works with these voxel (this is new for me) .
Thanks in advanceÂ

Hello again, Is it possible at least to have an explanation on how Explorer Mode works ? It would maybe help me understand the difference in my results.
Thanks in advance Â
