Subscriber Hi,Â
I am fairly new to the Ansys software i have ran a few simulations of other devices but i have recently downloaded the student edition to my personal device and when i go to edit the setup on a fluid (Fluent) system i get the error message "Exception of type 'Ansys.Fluent.Cortex.CortexNotAvailableException' was thrown."Â
Fluent opens to begin with and in the console window the command is running, then the following message pops up. "VKI license is not available. Corresponding TUI and GUI options for import and export will not be available". fluent then closes and takes me back to the workbench where i get the error message about "CorexNotAvailable.Â
If anyone could help that would be great.
Thanks,Â
Jack. -

Forum ModeratorVKI isn't related and shouldn't cause any issues. Cortex tends to be graphics related, have you checked on here for other people seeing the same issue?

Ansys EmployeeAs rwoolhou stated, Cortex issue is likely related to graphics. Please let us know your graphics information (model and driver)
Also, do you have the same issue if you are using stand-alone Fluent ?

SubscriberThe graphics card in my system is the basic GPU. Its similar to a home laptop.
How do i run standalone fluent I understand the only way is to run Fluent is from the workbench.
Please let me know how to do it, i will try it.

SubscriberHi,Â
I managed to resole the issue with fluent, I am using 2020 R1. When opening fluent from the workbench a box opens with options such as 2D, 3D, double precision etc, then in the bottom right of that box there is a section that says GPGPU and this was originally at 0. When I changed this to 1 fluent opened fine. I think it was because it's the first time I had used it on this laptop and it wasn't set up properly. -

Ansys EmployeeChange your GPGPU to 0 unless you have a really good graphics card.
There should be a shortcut for Fluent created on your Windows startup (similar to how you launch Workbench). If you don't see one, just open CMD Prompt and enter the following command
"%awp_root195%fluentntbinwin64fluent.exe"
If you have the same issue for stand-alone Fluent, in the Fluent Launcher -> More options -> Environment, then add the following in there
FLUENT_LAUNCHER_OPTIONS=-driver msw
If that still doesn't help, try changing the 'msw' to 'opengl' or 'opengl2'

Ansys EmployeeYou missed the quote " "
it must be exactly this
"%awp_root195%fluentntbinwin64fluent.exe"
