SubscriberI am using Ansys Academic 2021 R2, and have a Fluent project in Workbench.
Whilst running a 3D Fluent simulation, the console listed a 'File accessibility' error (as seen below). For this workbench file, the files were stored on a cloud storage account (OneDrive). My simulation was set up to autosave every 100 timesteps, and this worked for several files. However, after some time, an autosaved timestep file could not be accessed by the CFD Solver.

Forum ModeratorIt's a system glitch and seems to effect how the newer h5 files are written out. If you switch back to "legacy" case and data files you should avoid the issue. This can be set in the Preferences (mine is set for CFF, ie h5 format, change to Legacy) and also in the file type when you save. The why is less clear, but is improved in 2022R1

SubscriberHello Rob, thank you for your quick answer. I will make this change and see whether the issues persist.
I would use the newer 2022R1 but unfortunately I only have access to 2021R2 at university.

SubscriberHi Rob, I have now tried to run the simulation again, with this Legacy setting turned on in Preferences. Unfortunately, I am still experiencing the crashes, only after 5-10 minutes of CFD Solver runtime. This simulation is part of a Workbench project that includes an imported Fluent case file (.h5 format).
Is there any other setting that may cause such crashes? Or could it be an issue with the imported .h5 file?

Forum ModeratorI tend to avoid using Workbench so it's possibly something in the Workflows. The imported file shouldn't be a problem, it's the writing that may be. If you read in the case & data then write out as .cas.gz will reading that back in bypass the problem?
