I am running model to extract elasic wave propagation in 2D shell element. When I use linear 4 node shell th model seems to work fine but when I can the shell elemen to 48 node and use ELEFORM 23, somehow I am getting errors. Both SMP and MPP run gives different error as seen in figures below. I have tried different versions of solvers too but some how I end up getting the same error. Any solutions help regarding the issue would be really helpful.

Hi ,Â
Not all material model are compatible to with the all the shell formulations,Â
Some of them are specific, change the formulation of the shell or try with an updated solver 13.1 and up.Â
Cheers, RamÂ

If you are using MAT_ADD_DAMAGE with this shell element, possibly there are some issues in using it at present

I am just using orthotropic elastic material model (Mat 2). I tried using isotropic (Mat 1) too but somehow I get the same error.

This is in fact a defect in LS-DYNA and would need to be fixed. Unfortunately, we cannot do it in the context of this forum. Please contact your Ansys account manager to see if you can send us the input file through them, so that we may fix it at our end.
