I have a simple pulse generator circuit (in ANSYS simplorer (twin builder)) connected to an external cable (in ANSYS Maxwell) as shown below. While the individual simulations give results, the co-simulation shows the errors below. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
November 12, 2020 at 4:29 pmicellb1Ansys EmployeeHi, Array,nI saw your Maxwell side has an error message winding does not have any coil. Could you check if you add coil(s) to winding1 correctly on Maxwell side?nNovember 12, 2020 at 4:36 pmarshiahSubscriberDearThanks for your comment! nI realized that the external winding I assigned in Maxwell should have a coil. So, I made a pulse generator in simplorer and coupled it with a 3 phase machine in maxwell and the coupling between Simplorer and maxwell worked fine. nBut the coupling did not run for a simple cylindrical coaxial cable as shown above. So I wondering if it has to do with the winding geometry. Should I design the cable in helical shape? Or are there any other options to add coils to a cylindrical winding in Maxwell?.November 12, 2020 at 5:06 pmicellb1Ansys EmployeeHi, @arshiah,nFrom your screenshot, the cylindrical coaxial cable looks like an open loop coil, so two coil terminals at 2 ends of a coil need to be added to a winding. nNovember 12, 2020 at 5:14 pmarshiahSubscriberOh, that totally makes sense. That might be where I was going wrong! Thanks so much . I shall try that and write an update! nNovember 12, 2020 at 5:15 pmarshiahSubscriberSo if I understood correctly, I need to assign the same external winding name to both ends of the coil? nNovember 12, 2020 at 9:16 pmicellb1Ansys EmployeeHi, Array,nYou should only assign coil terminal excitation to the two end faces of the physical coil. Then add the two coil terminal excitations to one winding excitation. Change the excitation type of that one winding excitation to external.nSeptember 16, 2022 at 12:20 pmVinay_GSubscriberHello Arshiah,
Hope you are doing great. Can you please help me with the following error.Â
