We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

Error: GENERAL -CAR-CDR: invalid argument [1]: improper list

      Error Object : #f

I'm always getting this error after each session. What to do? Even I tried a couple of solutions mentioned in the community. But, they did not solve my issue.

I assume you're using Fluent.  The error means there is a data mismatch and something isn't compatible, or more likely filled in.   Which version are you using, and what models are turned on?

Yes, I'm using Fluent of version 18.1. Whenever I create a plane in Fluent for a contour, it's showing that error. How do I solve this issue

Are you creating a plane, or an isosurface? If it's the former check the definition is valid (it's easy to muck up the order of the corners). If I'm creating a surface for post processing I use isosurfaces of mesh.

I'm creating the plane. I'll try your suggestion. Thank you.

I'm unable to open the Fluent. I keep on getting the same error. Even I tried to load the case and data files. But, it's showing the same error. Can you help me to resolve this issue?

      Hi,

suggestion 1: Start a new fluent and load the case and data files. You export the data to CFD-POST and do the post processing in CFD-POST.

Suggestion 2: start a new fluent, load the case and data files. Go to contours and select the variable to plot and select any surface and compute. Check whether it is computing or not. If it is computing, you can create a new surface from iso-surface of mesh and plot it.

      Regards,

      Seeta

Thanks. I've already done with your suggestions. The issue is, I'm getting the above mentioned error. Because of that, Fluent is not reading the files.

How should I overcome the ERROR? Fluent doesn't read the case and data files. It just gives an error

You should be able to read the case unless it's completely messed up. If you can't read into standalone Fluent, read it into Fluent with the meshing option ticked. Once there, use the Transfer to Solution button: if you're lucky it'll open and you can hunt though the settings to find what's causing the issue. Note, if you do need to go via the Fluent meshing route the data may not be usable.
