Equations used in fluent

      Hello

I am trying to do a simulation of the melting of PCM in metal foam, using the melting/solidification model and nonequilibrium thermal model (porous media) in fluent. I found in the literature that they use fluent. and the equations they wrote in the literature are as follow

When I checked the fluent theory guide for the equations used in the Melting/Solidification model. (enthalpy porosity method) is used as follows for energy equation and momentum source term:

Also for energy and momentum equations for nonequilibrium thermal model as per fluent guide

The question is what the equation will look like when I activate the Melting/Solidification model and nonequilibrium porous media together. the previous equations are shown for each model separately, and I see some discrepancies between these equations and the equations in the literature so is there a special treatment I should consider? how i can ensure that when I activate both models, the equations will be similar to those in the literature?

      Hi,

The equations mentioned in the literature are for metal foam where it consider the porosity in the metal foam whereas in fluent it describes the equation for phase change of complete material based on enthaphy porosity technique.

      Thank you.

      Thanks for your response

But what is the equation used in fluent when i use melting/soldification model and activating porose zone option of fluid cell zone ( non equilibrium thermal model porous media)

      Thanks

Fluent will then use both sets of equations as the solidification model isn't linked to the non-equilibrium model.

      Hello

Just to make it clear to me, it will use the two sets of equations as in the literature(the fisrt immage) or they are not coupled together?and special treatement is required?

It will use the two sets of equations in the Fluent documentation. However the solidification model freezes the flow in the "solid" cells so I'm not sure if you'll get what you want when you also add in the non-equilibrium model.
